The Double Hung Kit is designed to replace old double hung windows by retro fitting into the existing sills. It is a cost effective way of replacement without the complications of complete new windows. The original sill, jamb and trim remain in place while the old sashes are replaced. Two vinyl jamb liners are installed in place of the ropes and pulleys in order to account for the extra weight of insulated glass. There are many advantages to using these jamb liners on your new windows including easy operation, good weather seal and energy efficiency, tilt in cleaning, and complete removal of sashes if necessary. You also maintain the classic look and feel of your home.
Double Hung Kit standard features:
Solid clear vertical grain fir sash in paint or stain grade
Energy efficient glass with low-e and argon
Solid brass latch and lift
Vinyl Jamb liner in white
Weather stripping at top, bottom and check rail
Decorative leaded glass or wood grids
Although vinyl tracks are not part of a traditional window, they provide the best seal you can get on a window that slides. They allow for tilt-in cleaning, touch-up painting, and easy maintenance of your new windows. With no wood to wood contact, you never have to worry about your windows being stuck shut. They come in the color white to reduce warping and brittleness due to sun exposure.
Latches & Lifts
Latches hold a double hung shut. Lifts are the handles used to open a double hung. Both latch and lift are solid brass and come in three colors. Small double hungs require one of each while larger doublehungs may require two.
Our leaded insulated glass is custom made to order and can be made in two forms, Thermal or Dual Face. Thermal leading is available in 1/4" or 3/8" and will appear on both sides of one of the panes of glass. Options are endless with the Thermal leading but will have a shorter warranty. Dual Face leading is limited to 3/8" wide lead and rectangular type patterns but is the preferred method and will carry a longer warranty.
