-Store products in a moist condition with wide fluctuations in temperature

-Wait as long as possible to finish the products

-When finishing the products, only finish one side or leave the top, side, and bottom edges unfinished

-Plan to rely on a primer coat or a sealer without finish coats to protect the wood

-Plan on finishing your products in a dark or flat paint

-Install your products in an unfinished condition

-When storing your products lean against a post or set on uneven surface

-If products are trimmed on site during install neglect to seal exposed wood

-Install products out of plumb, and if possible rack jambs out of square to make trimming them easier.
