Double Hung Kit Installation Instructions

1. Remove old sashes by removing the stops between the sashs that run down the sides between the sashes. Save the top stop. Un hook the sash ropes and remove the old pulleys.

2. Screw the metal brackets, spaced evenly, down both sides of the window. Depending on the height of the window, there will be 3 to 7 clips per side. Start about 2" from the top and finish about 2" from the bottom. Avoid placing a clip at the check rail position, place 2" above or below checkrail.

3. Snap the vinyl jamb liners onto the brackets on the side of the window frame. Start at the top and use your hand to pound the liners into place.

4. Holding the top sash horizontally above the plastic friction shoes in the jambliner, slightly tilt it and place the bottom pin of the side of the sash that is lower into the hole of at the bottom of the plastic friction shoe, then lower the other side of the sash so that its pin engages the hole in the other friction shoe. Now, swing the sash up to the vertical position so that the dados on the side of the sash snap into the jamb liner and it "locks" in. It should easily slide up and down.

5. Repeat step 4 with the bottom sash. Close both sashes, and lock. If the lock and keep will not align, opening may be slightly out of square, look for an even reveal along the top and bottom on the sashes. If there are gaps where the top rail or bottom rail meet the head or jamb, it may be necessary to scribe and cut the top or bottom rails of the sash to make it conform to the opening.

6. Cut the original top stop approximately 1 1/2" shorter and replace it into its groove after sashes have been installed.
